As a follow-up of cooperation that had been established so far, on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 five delegations from Guangxi University of Science & Technology (GXUST) China made a visit to the University of Widya Kartika Surabaya (UWIKA). The five delegationswere Vice President of GXUST, Ms. Qin Xiaoyun, Professor; Dean School of Vocational and Technological Education GXUST, Mr. Yuan Hua, Professor; Executive Deputy Dean School of Science GXUST, Mr. Xu Liushu, Professor; Associate Professor School of Civil Engineering GXUST, Mr. Chao Huang, Professor; and Associate Professor of Staff Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges GXUST, Mr. Kevin Chen.
The main purpose of the visit was to review the student of GXUST who was in UWIKA and meet students who will go to GXUST for further study and know their Chinese abilities.
In his speech, the Rector of UWIKA, Dr. Josua MurpinSembiring, S.E., M.Si.expressed his deep gratitude for the visit and hoped that the good cooperation that had been established could be maintained and a sustained cooperation would be able to be established in expanding the quality of education systems to form a campus environment which had global perspective.
On that occasion, Vice President GXUST, Ms . Qin Xiaoyun, Professor, also told directly about UWIKA’s students’ during their further study in GXUST. In the first three months, they usually got trouble oin communicating even though they were already fluent in Mandarin. But after that, they would get used to, especially when they were placed with local students from other countries to practice their Mandarin.
At the meeting which was attended by the rector UWIKA, the Head of Chinese Department, and the Chinese lecturers, delegates GXUST provided typical Chinese souvenirs crafts such as flower painting made from scraps of paper. ***
