Various culture and arts of China attracted both domestic and foreign tourists in the Discovery Kartika Plaza Bali . Chinese dances and songs, Gu Cheng or Chinese lute played by the University of Widya Kartika Surabaya (UWIKA) on Friday, January 24, 2014.
“This is to welcome the Lunar New Year 2014. Besides that, we also want to introduce the arts and culture to the wider community, both domestically and internationally, as we all know, Bali is an international tourist destination.” said Ong Peter Leonardo, the head of Chinese Department from UWIKA.
In order to welcome the Lunar New Year, the University of WidyaKartikaSurabaya (UWIKA) held Chinese festival not only in Surabaya, but also in Bali which lasted for two days starting on Friday, January 24, 2014 and ended on Saturday, January 25, 2014. The activities were conducted in several schools in Denpasar by showing various Chinese cultural art displays such as the Liu-liu dance, peacock dance, lute playing (gucheng) and Gong Xi Fa Cai song, sung by students of Mandarin Department. Besides targeting schools, this Chinese Spring Festival agenda also targeted the general public and held in the Discovery Kartika Plaza.
”We hope this event can attract more high schools/vocational schools to learn more about Chinese culture and they can learn it through UWIKA Surabaya.
