On Tuesday, May 14, 2013, the group of University of WidyaKartika (Uwika) paid a visit to the Office of Private Higher Education Coordinator (Kopertis) Region VII in Jalan Dr. Ir. H. Soekarno no. 177 Surabaya. The delegation was led directly by Uwika’s Rector Dr. JosuaMurpinSembiring, S.E., M.Sc. Participating in the group were Budi Hermawan, SE, MTCSOL.,Vice Rector I, Dra. Felicia O. DienKoeswanto, Vice Rector II, Dra. Eva Johana, M.Sc., Ak.,Dean of the Faculty of Economics,and Drs. Darmanto, M.Sc., as a member of the senate.
Uwikavisit to the office was an effort to maintain good relations between the two institutions. KopertisVII accepted this visit well. UwikaGroup was met directly by the Coordinator of Kopertis VII, Prof.. Dr. Sugijanto, M.S., Apt. and his executive secretary, and the rest of the coordinators. Presenting at the occasion were the Executive Secretary Dr. Ali Maksum, the Chief of Accreditation and Institution Administration Drs. Ec. PurwoBekti, M.Sc., the Head of the State Examination Administration and Student Affairs Drs. Sudaryanto, M.M., and the Head of Administration Sulaksono, SH, M.H. To note, it was very rare to meet those complete members of Kopertis VII’s officials in a meeting between Private University’s Rector and Kopertis VII.
On the occasion, Uwika’s Rector, Dr. Murpin expressed his gratitude for the good relations that have been established so far. Uwika will continue to work together to develop education sector in East Java, especially in Surabaya. One of them is the attempt to produce competent Chinese teachers.
“We’ve tried so that the Chinese Education Department (S1) can be established. Now, we already have the permission and we will take care and develop the study program as well as possible. Because, ??there is only one Chinese Education Department (S1) in Kopertis VII, Java environment and it is Uwika’s,”said the man who is also the Chairman of Kopertis VII’s Lecturers Communication Forum in East Java.
According to him, nowadays, a number of areain Indonesia requires Chinese teachers. He cited, Papuawill also begin to require Chinese educators in this incoming future. “We’ve been communicating with studentswho are representatives from there (Papua). And forwards, Uwika will explore cooperation with the government and existing stakeholders in Papua, “continued the man who is also the Chief I of KORPRI KopertisRegion VII Office of East Java.
The Coordinator of Kopertis VII, Prof. Kopertis VII. Sugijanto appreciatedUwika’s efforts in realizing the implementation of Chinese Education Department (S1). He reminded that the campus should not forget to make analumni database. “It (Database) was important. So, all will be recorded. Thus, the growth can be monitored. The development of the campus itself also can be evaluated more comprehensively, “he said.
