Universities should provide more facilities for lecturers and students in doing research. Thus, its presence could actually bring a significant contribution, both in education and in the public interest.

Yahya, ST, M.Sc., in a seminar titled “Understanding the Higher Education South Korea” Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the University of WidyaKartika. “There, teachers are no longer teaching the basic subjects. They are more likely to concentrate doing research, “he said.
According to him, students could find the basic course material via the internet. Thus, there won’t be an explanation-hearing routine anymore buta student only asked about what had not been understood from the results of hunting in cyberspace.
The education climate in South Korea strongly supports research activities. Period of learning is done only in a short-term. Then, in a very short time, the lecturers and professors can focus more in completing research.
Not only that. The research material is also fully sorted. No random themes proposal could be approved easily. “Only systematic research and design can be accepted. The main requirement, what have researched should bring a direct contribution to the community, “he added.
Not only lecturer. Students in South Korea are also taught to be open-minded to new things. The development of different parts of the world must be understood. Thus, the aim of making the campus as a research center can be done.
Today, many leading companies in South Korea elaborate with campuses. One of the reasons is to seek the possibility of inefficiencies that burdenproduction costs. “Campus tries to do research and develop a system that can be implemented most efficiently in the company. For example, the retailer, or manufacturer, even the circulation of currents transporting container are also formulated in a more systematic way, “he said.
Therefore, he hoped, Indonesian high education institutions can open up themselves and learn from the outside. Thus, there will be an even greater contribution to other sectors from the presence of students, faculty, and campus. In addition, the academic world can also synergize well to other fields, such as industry. By doing so, the role of community service can be further optimized.
