Starting from information provided by Chongqing Normal University, 9 (nine)2010 studentsfrom University of WidyaKartika Surabaya followeda dance contest held in the city of Chongqing, China and were broadcasted on Chongqing television stations (CQTV).
This dance contest which in mandarin named “???? (w?dòngShanda)” is a place for the nine students to explore their dance skills and introduce Indonesia to people abroad. Therefore, in the preliminary round (January 6, 2013), all members of the team who are currently studying at Chongqing Normal University set up a dance with the title “MIX”-which is a combination of modern dance and Indonesian dance like Poco-Poco and dangdut-. In addition to Poco-Poco and dangdut, which stands out from the “MIX” is Gangnam Style that is popular today.
“MIX” got high appreciation from the four juries and drove the team into the semi-finals. In the semifinal (March 12, 2013), with the title “MIX 2”, the team still danced blends of modern dance with Indonesian dance. This time, the jury “fell in love” on the dance YamkoRambeYamko contained in the “MIX 2” and gave positive comments. However, the requirement to qualify for the final round was the total value of which had been given by the 3 judges in this round, with a system of 2 teams with the highest number who would go for the next round.
The scores given to “MIX 2” were 90, 91, and 88, with a total of 269. Unfortunately, the team was not able to reach the highest value at the time (271). However, no effort and determination that ended in vain. Because the performnce was so enchanting, the team was invited back to present as a guest star in the final on the following day (March 13, 2013).
As a guest star, this team displayed “INDONESIA PERFECT” which the opening dance was opened by the song “Indonesia Tanah Air Beta”. Indonesian traditional dances were more numerous in the perfomance this time. The most amazing part was when one of the dancers waving the Indonesia’s National flag at the opening of this dance. “INDONESIA PERFECT” was designed in such a way because they wanted to introduce Indonesian culture to other countries through their dance show.
